Extending women-led mangrove planting and community clean-ups along Odisha's cyclone-exposed coast.
01The challenge
Odisha's coast faces some of the most intense cyclones on the Bay of Bengal. Healthy mangrove belts reduce the force that reaches villages and fields.
The Sundarbans nursery model adapted to Odisha's coast, with local women leading planting and care.
Local leaders organise clean-ups of shorelines and creeks, keeping waste out of the ecosystems being restored.
03Community
Led by local women and village volunteers, many of whom now organise their own clean-ups.
“Planet Mama changed how I see nature. I now lead cleanups in my village.”
04Impact
Figures are published once they have a source. Each carries its evidence status. How we measure.
