04 · Restoring natural water systems and biodiversity.
The challenge
Ponds and wetlands store monsoon water, recharge groundwater, filter waste and feed families through fish and plants. Many are silted, polluted or encroached, and when they fail, the whole local water system weakens with them.
Our approach
Community-led desilting, waste removal and catchment protection to bring ponds and wetlands back into use.
Using wetland plants and natural filtration to improve water quality instead of energy-intensive treatment.
Tracking water level, quality and recharge over seasons, so a revived pond is managed rather than left to silt up again.
